Rikash nodded slightly to Raven. It was okay, he was telling her. Vince had accepted his command in this. For now, the man could stay. The boy stood to the side slightly, letting brother and sister do what they needed. He let his magic wash out over Raven, making sure she was okay. She seemed fine now. What ever had happened, had passed.

A few months seem to just pass them all by. And before Vince knew it was the day of Raven's birthday....The day she dreaded of all days. He knew this...she was like this on all of her birthdays...What's the point in celbrating a life if you're the one who will destroy life itself?...Raven stood alone in Rikash's room that morning....6 AM....She looked out at the city view before her....She would turn 17 today.....Her life was just going by too fast for her. She had learned to quit smoking....Vince helped her quit for he had found out about it.....Vince was in the gym working out.....He had to release allot of stress...Being the day it was.....

Rikash wasn't inside. He had left the house during the middle of the night while the others were asleep. He had ignored Vince for the most part for the past couple months and had been avoiding Raven when her brother was around. More and more he found himself out in the city. The boy wore a loose black tee-shirt and dark colored jeans. Even though the temperature had dropped significantly by mid winter. The boy had forgotten, but Christmas was not far off and cheerful decorations littered the streets.
Rikash took a short cut to the top of the hill that over looked the city and bay. He could have just teleported, but every step he took gave him more time away. It was six in the morning as Rikash reached the top. The sun peaked over the city, staining the air gold. Someone walked up behind him, but Rikash didn't hear the footsteps. He jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking up, Rikash winced. The blinding light coming off of Hermes still hurt the boy's eyes even now. For a moment the god just stood there, looking down at the city Rikash had chosen over Mount Olympus. "Have you ever wondered about your parents Rikash?" He asked after a length. Rikash shrugged slightly. He hadn't really, or at least not a lot. "That's good, it does no good to dwell on the past." Rikash shot him a quizzical look. What did he mean? "Nothing," Hermes answered with a shake of his head. Which of course translated to, everything, but I'm not telling you. Rikash shrugged again; he knew better than to argue with a god. "You know what today is, right Rikash?" The god said softly. Rikash nodded; it was Raven's birthday, The supposed day the world would end. "You've proved your point. You did everything you could. Come to the mountain, Trigon won't touch you there." Rikash looked up at the one who had given him his power. Slowly he shook his head. He wasn't going to leave Raven. He knew how to avoid being turned to stone if the worst came, he had enough power to do that much at least. He would find a way to save Raven, even if he didn't stop her. Hermes sighed and ruffled the boy's blond hair. "You troublesome little kid," he said fondly but without venom. "Good luck. And Rikash, if you fail, if it doesn't work, don't take it too hard. As hard as you may find it to believe, there are still those out there who can kill you."
Rikash grinned and shook his head. It was never that he thought there wasn't. It was just that he didn't care if they did. Hermes sighed and stepped back, slowly fading out of the world and back home. Olympus would lock their gates soon. "Try not to die Rikash, some of us might miss you." Then he was gone.
Rikash fought back a slow yawn. He hadn't slept in days. Every day when Raven and Vince fell asleep he disappeared from the house, trying to get help. But not even the demons he had tried to convince would help him stop Trigon. They were all too afraid. Some of them had even gone as far as to try to stop him from seeking help. More than once had he had to hide bruises and cuts with his illusions from the other two. Even now he used his magic to hide a long bandage down one arm and finger shaped bruises across his neck. But no one had agreed to help. Cowards. Rikash looked at the sun again, he should get back. Raven would be awake soon.
He teleported back to the apartment and staggered slightly when he landed. His magic didn't like how much use it had been getting lately. Defending him from powerful demons every night without getting to replenish from sleep was starting to take a toll. But he had enough to last today. And if he still need his magic tomorrow, he had failed anyway.
Raven stood at the window when he appeared, staring out. He was behind her by the door and pulled his invisibility over himself. It only worked on her sometimes, but for some reason, Rikash suddenly didn't want to be seen.

Raven was kinda glad she was alone. Well she had no idea that Rikash was behind her. Tears had been falling down her cheaks as she starred out the window....Her heart was breaking....She knew Rikash & Vince did everything they could to stop this even from happening....There was no way to stop it now...As long as her heart beated inside her the end would come....Some thing that even Raven has kept locked away from her family & friends. the only way to stop it was to kill her.....

Rikash straightened and walked silently up next to Raven. At last he removed the invisibility. He appeared as suddenly as if he had materialized, his brown eyes looking back at her. He tilted his head and put a hand on her shoulder. How was she, he was asking. He couldn't ask if she was alright, that was stupid. Of course she wasn't. Today the world died, who would be alright if they knew that?

Raven looked in his eyes. But looked away as she started to cry all over again....She closed her eyes in shame....She was no hero. Not like he was. he had done all of this to help her for nothing....

Rikash touched her cheek lightly, turning her head towards him. His calm gaze was almost soothing. He produced a tissue and wiped away the tears from he cheek. His gaze said it all. He thought she was one of the bravest people he had ever seen. She may not see it yet, but he did. Maybe she wasn't strong like her brother physically, or as powerful magically as Rikash, but she had more courage than the boy could ever imagine. She had the courage to act like the world was okay for so long. She had been able to hide from his siblings her pain and suffering for years. It took a different kind of power to do that. It took real power.

Raven felt his fingers touch her cheak so softly...She slowly moved her head as he moved it to face his...She looked in his eyes....They were very soothing....He then whipped away her tears for her. She had not known what come over to her...but she leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheak. not the lips though. she might scare him away. It was her way of saying thank you.....And she blushed slightly....Vince caught the scene and walked away....so that they could be alone.....

Rikash jumped back like a startled deer, his eyes wide. He stared at Raven for a very short second then disappeared. It looked like he had teleported away, but in truth all he had done was pull his invisibility up again. The boy had a lot to think about. He could sense Vince and his power walking away again. Cursing silently, the boy took a few steps back, still staring at Raven.

Raven didn't realize that would scare him off. but it did....She felt awful after that. What was she thinking? After all they've been through you'd think he wouldn't be scared of a little kiss on the cheak to say thank you..... " Rikash I...I meant no harm....I wanted to thank you.....For being on my side and just being brave enough to help me....You were the one who saw the good in me....I had to thank you for that some how....Rikash please...." She had no idea he was still standing infront of her as she looked out the window and just started to cry again....

Slowly Rikash pulled the invisibility off. This time he seemed to fade into existence instead of just suddenly appear. He shrugged apologetically and grinned slightly as if to say, sorry, I'm just jumpy is all. He looked up at Raven an patted her shoulder comfortingly, though he still stood a little too stiff, as if still ready to run. But he didn't he stayed, a hand on her shoulder, his eyes shifting around the room nervously.

Raven had forgotten about the book she was reading before she went to bed that last night...It had been some thing about killing the soul one who is doomed to end the world...It was the only one she had here from Azarath....As she saw him look around she knew he would spot it.....Her heart sank when he laid his eyes on the bed & there was the book......

Rikash narrowed his eyes as he saw it. He could read the cover from here. He looked back at her and shook his head firmly. That wasn't going to happen. Not on his watch. She would have to kill him first. He grinned savagely. She would not find that an easy task. He took his hand off her shoulder and put it in his pocket. He was soon deep in thought. He was out of plans and ideas, though his face didn't show that. But in truth, he was at a lose.

As he was so in deep thought....Some thing happened....Raven's body began to feel slight pain....She felt it in her stomach then her head and eventually her whole body!! Her red scars the mars of her fathers.....lightened up on her pale skin....Even the jewel in the center of her forehead glowed....She grunted slightly...as she closed her eyes tightly & fell to her knees.....

Rikash turned and caught her as she fell. He wanted to call out to Vince, he knew the man was still close. But he would not break his silence. Instead he poured his own magic into her, taking as much of the pain into himself as he could. He was used to ignoring pain, but even he couldn't push it all away as he drew more and more of it out of her. He didn't want her to feel pain. Even if he failed to save her, he didn't want her to hurt.
